    Díky odolnosti proti opotřebení, která je o řády vyšší než u jakékoli jiné trysky E3D, je ObXidian skutečně tvrdý. O několik řádů tvrdší než tryska X a vlastně než jakákoli jiná běžná tryska z tvrzené oceli. Toho je dosaženo kombinací vložky z nástrojové oceli s povlakem E3DLC™. Tento speciálně vyvinutý povlak také propůjčuje nepřilnavé vlastnosti samotné trysce. Což znamená výrazně menší usazování plastu kolem trysky.
