HIPS print wire 2.85 mm natural DD is very hard and tough material, which has good thermal stability. It is used for printing on double-head 3D printers. One head prints a supporting structure made of ABS or HIPS and a second model itself of ABS or HIPS. Support structures of the ABS may be dissolved with acetone and the construction of HIPS lemonesolem .

HIPS has the properties of printing much closer to the ABS than PVA. ABS HIPS to hold up better than the PVA. With less twisting when printing it is a perfect material for printing large objects. Press and mechanical properties similar to ABS. However, it has a slightly smaller thermal shrinkage. It can be sanded and surface treated.
